Delphi Poets Series

The English actress, poet and society beauty of the late eighteenth century, Mary Robinson was known as “the English Sappho” and earned her nickname “Perdita” for her celebrated role as the heroine of Shakespeare’s ‘The Winter’s Tale’. Robinson’s work has in more recent times received critical attention, recognising her importance in the development of Romanticism. In her day, she was acknowledged as a leading poet and her verses demonstrate wit, charm, theatricality and emotional resonance. A poet of sensibility, as well as of popular culture, Robinson wrote poems that chronicle the major events of her time, employing aesthetic innovations. The Delphi Poets Series offers readers the works of literature’s finest poets, with superior formatting. This volume presents Robinson’s collected poetical works, with related illustrations and the usual Delphi bonus material.
