Expressive Therapies Continuum Across Creative Arts Practice

The Expressive Therapies Continuum Across Creative Arts Practice: Integrating Theory and Application is the first book to develop a collective approach to the Expressive Therapies Continuum as a unifying framework for all the expressive therapies. The book draws upon an international array of accomplished ETC scholars to describe the ETC and how to bring the framework to life through real-world applications across disciplines. The first part provides a foundation for the ETC while the second explores the application of the ETC through traditional expressive therapies including music, dance, drama, poetry, and art therapy. The expansive nature of the framework is emphasized through the inclusion of chapters on blending expressive arts as well as chapters that push the boundaries of traditional creative arts therapies in terms of populations, materials, and theories. Emergent modalities are outlined in the final part of the book with chapters on how the ETC can be used in nature therapy, in dream work, and with nontraditional materials. The Expressive Therapies Continuum Across Creative Arts Practice is a critical guide for students of any and all expressive arts therapies, as well as seasoned professionals who are wondering how to enliven their creative therapy practice with the addition of another art form. Whether you are familiar with the ETC or new to this theoretical model, The Expressive Therapies Continuum Across Creative Arts Practice will illuminate integrative new ways to approach art therapy.
