Operation: OOPS follows actress Lola Starling, who wakes hungover on a Moon base after falling asleep in the wrong van. Instead of a film set, she is Subject 42 in HelixNova's Project Chameleon. CEO Celeste Vorr claims Lola volunteered. Celeste delivers a polished smile. But Lola was accidentally kidnapped by incompetent contractors Grub Vantor and Vex Torn. Dr. Orion Slate, the serum's creator, reveals Lola is the first fully successful subject; previous subjects died or survived altered. She demands contact with her brother Miles, a gym, and answers; she eventually breaks gym equipment with new strength. As Lola adapts, her body grows stronger and changes colour with emotion. She befriends Beep-7, a literal-minded robot recovered from an ancient lunar spire. Beep uncovers HelixNova files showing Lola was watched and selected since childhood, ranked 99.7% compatible. Beep also records everything, becoming her closest ally. The kidnapping wasn't entirely random: Slate manipulated events so Lola would receive a serum tailored to her, hoping to end the lethal experiments. He also wrote a false prophecy for four surviving subjects: Maren, Tobias, Priya, and Jonah, who eventually join Lola. The conspiracy deepens. The spire has transmitted "e;Experiment progressing"e; for fifty years; the signal has accelerated, becoming a countdown. HelixNova founder Elias Vorr created Project Exodus: a ship for two hundred twelve elites, meant to escape an alien review. Celeste plans to submit a false honest report and abandon everyone else. The survivors discover the message's final word means both "e;act"e; and "e;perform."e;Lola stages a three-act rebellion. Act One fakes an alien attack using Vex's eerie music and jellyfish images, panicking the base. Act Two uses Lola's impersonations to turn security against itself. Act Three broadcasts Celeste's callous evacuation live to Earth. Slate confesses the truth, including thirty-seven deaths and the missing ship component that prevents Exodus from leaving. Celeste is arrested. Lola walks on the lunar surface without a suit, contacts her brother Miles, and delivers an honest report to the alien signal: humanity is messy, frightened, and trying. The spire answers with a small light.Afterward, HelixNova collapses; Celeste is tried; Grub opens a bakery; Vex writes television; Beep guides tours at the museum base. Lola becomes a famous actress with permanently blue-tinged skin. Years later, her bracelet receives a new message: "e;Message received. Experiment progressing."e; A child with silver eyes on a distant colony suggests the story is only beginning.
