Scary Movie (2000) Directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, Scary Movie parodies late-1990s teen slashers as a group of high-school friends become targets of a masked killer while absurd misunderstandings spiral around them. The film blends broad comedy with genre references, skewering iconic horror moments through exaggerated gags and self-aware humor. Its chaotic energy and meta approach helped define a new wave of parody films. Scary Movie 2 (2001) Directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, Scary Movie 2 follows a college group invited to spend the night in a haunted mansion where supernatural events collide with irreverent jokes and genre send-ups. The film blends ghost-story tropes with slapstick, keeping the focus on exaggerated reactions and escalating absurdity. Its mix of haunted-house parody and recurring characters gives the sequel a looser, more chaotic tone. Scary Movie 3 (2003) Directed by David Zucker, Scary Movie 3 shifts to spoofing early-2000s supernatural thrillers and sci-fi hits as a journalist uncovers crop circles, cursed videotapes, and bizarre alien encounters. The film blends rapid-fire jokes with Zuckers signature deadpan style, relying on interconnected sketches built around popular genre films. Its broader focus and streamlined structure give the series a new comedic rhythm.
