Table

Nobody asks who is holding the strings above them. Behind the ordinary workings of society exists a secret organization known only as The Table-twelve immensely powerful individuals who secretly manipulate the lives of ordinary people for their own entertainment. To them, humanity is nothing more than a database of "e;Active Players,"e; and every tragedy, triumph, heartbreak, and coincidence is simply a move in a game. When the Twelve select Arthur Pendelton, a seemingly ordinary schoolteacher, they begin systematically disrupting his life, rewarding themselves for every act of cruelty and chaos. But when one of the players suddenly becomes the target of the very game he has been controlling, a terrifying possibility emerges: The Twelve may not be at the top of the hierarchy. The Table explores power, wealth, manipulation, and the frightening possibility that the people controlling our lives may themselves be nothing more than players in someone else's game.
